A quick overlook: the digital state of the art in South Asia
The demographic potential of South Asia is set to have a huge impact at the global level, as the need for information and connectivity represents a strong trend even among rural communities.
India has a population of over 1,2 billion people, and just 140 million of them currently have access to the World Wide Web. Over 50% of Indians are under 25, and 70% of the country’s population reside in rural areas.
Pakistan has a population of roughly 190 million people, and just 30 million of them currently use the Internet. 70% of Pakistani population reside in rural areas.
Afghanistan has a population of 30 million people, and only 5% of of them currently use the Internet.
